My long time friend David Tebbutt is joining analyst firm Freeform Dynamics. The announcement is here and David’s explanation is here. For those that don’t know, Freeform operates an open source analyst model. This is different to the Gartner model where high priced subscriptions backed by conferences and vendor contracts are the norm.
David is one of the most – nay most – experienced IT commentaters on the UK block with a depth of understanding few can match. Writer, trainer, thinker, entrepreneur, consultant, advisor – David’s done it all. It seems fitting then that now is the time for Freeform to bring genuine ‘grey hair’ wisdom to an analyst firm. This contrasts sharply with the usual trend of bringing in product or marketing managers whose knowledge and understanding is…how shall we say…usually based on what they’re told and not what they know.
Congratulations to David and the Freeform team. A fabulous, imaginative addition and a great complement to a great team.
Why should professionals care? There’s a lot of BS talked about green issues. David’s an expert. If you need to know where to start with good corporate citizenry, David’s your man. If you need media training, David has a long and successful history in this important area.
