New section to lighten this place up?

by Dennis Howlett on July 14, 2006

I’ve had a number of email (i.e. private) requests to set up a new section that takes a…shall we say offbeat (?) view of the practitioner’s life. Yes… I know it’s all been done before by someone who’s true identity is known to me. Let’s put it this way – would you own up to generating more page views than anything of intellectual value?

I have to say I’m mildly offended. This blog tries really hard to be insightful, transparent and all that good stuff yet some readers are saying it’s not enough. What do you want – blood? Give me a break – no walled gardens here. That’s got to be a major plus.

I have someone in mind should the masses (ahem) of readers decide it would be a good thing. Haven’t decided on the frequency (heck – I’m only just making minimum wage) but…you decide. If more than 2 people comment in the affirmative, I might just be prepared to shell out the monthly equivalent of a Happy Meal to get this on the go. But I need a name – a distinctive moniker – nothing rude you realise. Any suggestions from the non-professionals?

I’m not holding my breath.

  • James came up with a good 'un: 'Double Entry - ooh err missus.' Keeping with the innuendo - how about 'The Dangling Debiteer?'

well you don't like the idea, so why not call it "get out of here!".
  • LOL, Graham, I don’t entirely agree with you, not that I’m saying there is a wacky side to practice life, I just think we have to take our kicks where we can find them, for one I find the funniest time when I am raising fee notes ; no only joking should a client ever see this!

What about ‘Practice makes perfect’ for your title?
  • I think there's enough offbeat and, 'they couldn't make this up' stuff, as it is, on your excellent blog. I don't think practitioners need to be alerted to the wacky side of practice life. There isn't one.
  • the accounting web thing is firewalled so i am not sure why you pointed me at this page, dennis?
  • There must be something around counting the beans. Not that I can think what it might be.

    Bean counter-view?
