Professional accountants are rarely great communicators except within the confines of their profession and even then they can struggle. So I was delighted to find Mark Lee, a Chartered Accountant and former Chairman of the Chartered Accountants’ Tax Faculty. Today, Mark devotes his time to helping professionals enhance their service to clients. Here’s his profile.
His public facing blog is a great resource, addressing the common problems clients face when dealing with their professional accounting advisor. He has some juicy data points to which I’ll be returning later in the week. I like Mark’s site because it is rooted in the real world. It’s a great complement to David Maister’s site. Both are star makers. As is David Tebbutt.
And on reflection about my own career as partner, I wish we’d had access to a Mark Lee. If you visit my About page I explain how I came to retire. Could the outcome have been different if a Mark had been available to facilitate and negotiate the different partner perspectives? I’ll never know. If you’re in a similar situation, then Mark might help you avoid being stuck between a rock and a hard place. It’s not about winning and losing – it’s about achieving the right result for all concerned.
If you’re a professional needing help to communicate more effectively – Mark’s your man. If your a client frustrated at the service you receive, point your advisor to his place.
Hat tip to Richard Murphy for having a site that encourages discussion and from where I discovered Mark.
As an aside, it’s great to be on a roll of finding goodness. Recent weeks have felt dark and depressing.
